The last two years were not favourable for the community gatherings, so unfortunately the diverse youth and community workshops of the Mediawave have been stucked or not able to realise. Nevertheless we truly hope and believe that this year will give more opportunity for us to continue the tradition of the workshops. Essentially we are staying with our old concept that has been clarified from the past 10 years, with multiple, different small locations for the communities, organised nearby each other, from which the larger scene- this year Kiscsősz- will be assembled between 4-7 of May.
The new organiser team will decide if the previous Passport Control series (having been used for the past 16 years, for 50 occasions) will be continued, or a new one will be launched. In any case, we can surely say that according to the plans, this year Kiscsősz will be full of different workshops, moreover the community line will be also emphasised, by a side project of the international movie competitions.

“Slow river...” is experimenting a new/old form of community togetherness trying to balance the conditions of today’s consumption based trends. We are willing to apply „craftsmanship - based” implementation instead of industrial organization. Started as a „by - product” of the 26 years old Mediawave Selective 2010 in Őriszentpéter, after that within the framwork of Ördögkatlan Festival between 2011-2015. In 2016 we will start at a new location, the Castle of Somogyfajsz and the surrounding natura park. The goal is art-mediation, building communities, living in the nature/living together with nature.

"Well, Mediawave!

First, it was the first time to be there, had no idea what to expect. Most of the time went by in deeply positive confusion and once you finally realized what is going on, it was suddenly over. There will just be friendly people, crazy music, cricket’s stridulation, morning sandwiches, colored walls, talking drums and many other strong feelings hovering in your memories. Feelings those get stronger after every moment.

Secondly, it’s hard to find better location than this old fort for this kind of mixture. Hard to get in, impossible to get out!

Last, but not least, I can't continue, otherwise I will get too melancholic that it‘s over for this time..."

The audience had the opportunity to vote for 76 films in 6 categories in the ON THE ROAD Online Film Festival, a new initiative of the MEDIAWAVE International Film Festival. Athough the voting was closed yesterday the films can be watched until 30 April click here!)
1000-2000 people watched the audience-awarded films in a month, and Fertility by Teréz Murányi Matza was the most watched films with 2074 viewers.

ON THE ROAD is the special theme of MEDIAWAVE 2014 recently announced for film makers as well as in other areas of our program, which intends to strenghten the spirit of the Gathering. A little bit differently, with a new system, we expand the Fortfest to online gathering for a while.

We are waiting for films in all genres to this category until 10 January, 2014 (entry form is availbale here) which present ’being on the road’, let it be either a physical or intellectual journey or individuals, communities, minorities travelling temporarily or constantly, from free will or under pressure. Migration, emigration, crossroads or parallel directions, creation processes as well as intellectual or spiritual paths.
For us, it is even more interesting if they avoid the highways of media industry and the colorful boulevards of film market.
